If someone asks what you do for work, what do you reply?
Generally, people say something like “I work for Nike.” Or “I work for Google”.
“For.”
Something about that word bugs me, and I finally put my finger on it.
💡We work WITH people not FOR them. And people work with us, not for us. This mindset shift is everything. We don’t work FOR a company or person. We work WITH them.
👀 When you think of working WITH people rather than FOR people, it reminds you of your autonomy and intentions for working. Things you work “for” are for your well-being, for supporting your family or yourself, and for your own calling or purpose.
☀️Work is something we humans do together. We support one another with different skills and talents. We collaborate with people. We are here to elevate each other.
That’s the thought of the week. See you next time!
